During the Holiday Season more than ever, our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our progress possible.
Throughout 8 years as a part of the Jr. All American football programs at Charter Oak, I have grown to learn how to be a proper team player by teaching others how to properly play the game and to respect others the way I would want to be treated if I was on the other side of the rope. I also learned how to push myself in education to keep my grades well- above the minimum to ensure that I would play during the season no matter what. My citizenship also matured throughout those years as I was able to become more aware of how to properly treat those who were new to the game and needed guidance. I was commemorated for my citizenship and sportsmanship by winning the Bill Garrow Award on my last year in the league, then winning the “Friday Night Lights” award my freshman year in high school which was given to those who worked hard throughout the year and had great grades, outstanding sportsmanship, and matured citizenship which fit me perfectly. I am blessed to have taken part in such a great program and look forward to giving back to it after I am finished with college. -Steven Santana
